Ubuntu ZA

Well well, here we are at the Mustang Spur in Durban, having our first ever Ubuntu Hour. The attendance is great and the atmosphere is something to experience. 7 People made it down here and meeting new fellow geeks are really nice. There is one or two wifi-issues flying around but we will hopefully be able to sort that out...

Aaah, some time to relax and reflect on the day. There has been a lot of information exchange, sharing of links, news sites, repositories and ideas. It certainly was an exciting event as one don't get to meet with like-minded people outside of work, that often.

The main target we have for now is to get out of our comfort zones and just get up to speed. It's not that hard to get a meeting together, it just need each attendee's commitment to arrive at the venue. (I think I've done both: getting lost for a while and then arriving just after the target time was way out of my comfort zone :P )

Next year will definitely see more Hours being held at different places, as our main target is to keep it exciting and new each time. There's been a discussion on something out of the ordinary that we might do next year somewhere, but that's up to later planning. All I can say is that it will be really something cool and geeky!
