Where do the monthly reports go at the end of the month? - July feedback

I am sure most of you know where the monthly reports go, but just in case you didn't here's what we did in July. If you are interested in what happened elsewhere, scroll around.

Ubuntu-ZA Re-Approved for 2010 - 2012!

Every two years, Ubuntu LoCo's need to be re-approved by the LoCo Council, and this year was Ubuntu-ZA's turn again. LoCo's have to show that they are active, have a history of activity, and a roadmap of future activities, amongst other things, in order to be re-approved.

Re-approval of ubuntu-za as official LoCo on Tue, 3 Aug 2010 at 21:00 SAST

Ubuntu-za is up for re-approval as listed on the agenda of the LoCo Council for Tuesday, 3 August 2010 at 21:00 SAST. The meeting will be held in #ubuntu-meeting on IRC (freenode.net).

Congratulations Stefano On Becomming A Motu

Just a big shout out to our 3rd Ubuntu-za member Stefano aka tumbleweed on becoming MOTU.

Congratulations

July 2010 Ubuntu-ZA meeting - Report Back

After a long unintentional break (blame it on the soccer?) we had a Bumper Ubuntu-za meeting in IRC.

You can read the agenda. You can view the minutes.

[ubuntu-za] LoCo Team meeting - Thursday 8 July

We don't seem to have had an Ubuntu-ZA team meeting yet this year, let's fix that.

Reminder: Our team meetings are open to anyone on this list, or who uses Ubuntu and considers themselves to be South African.  Please come and join us if you can make it. Especially if you live somewhere besides Cape Town and Stellenbosch (which seem to dominate our IRC channel).

Launchpad OpenID Intergration Made Easier

Just a quick note that I requested that Ubuntu-ZA get added to Launchpad's open ID list to also include peoples default emails during login requests.

How does this affect you?

If you already have an account on ubuntu-za it doesn't. How ever if you are wanting to sign up you can use your LP openid login and you wont have to go through the proccess of manually adding your email address.

Improving the Get Ubuntu page

Well, last night I made some adjustments to the Get Ubuntu page to make it simpler and easier for people adding disks. There's now a direct link to your contact page so that people can e-mail you via the site, and not expose your e-mail address to spammers; the "body" field has been removed since it was largely unnecessary; the "title" field has been renamed to "summary".

Lucid is Finally Out

So it is finnaly out! but where do we get it from? We are actually rather lucky since we have quite a few local mirros to choose from.

You can give any of these a try to download your ISO'. Some of them are ftp and others http and some of them support both.

For those of you wanting to upgrade your update manager should ask you and you shouldn't need to change any of your mirror settings.
